Cherie
Carrabba is the Executive Director of the Texas
Junior Livestock Association and the Publisher and Editor of The
Showbox magazine. She left a career in education to direct
both business entities. Her tenacity, work ethic, and
enthusiasm have played vital roles in the growth of
both organizations. The TJLA was the first junior livestock
exhibitor organization created in the United States,
and it has been the model of all the others that followed.
A humorist who is able to laugh at herself, she has
written about the exploits of her friends and family
and brought insight into the wonderful world of livestock
exhibition. She and her husband, John Ben Carrabba,
live on a ranch in Crockett, Texas with their seven
dogs. Armed with an idea and a typewriter, Cherie created
a forum for junior enthusiasts and changed the face
of livestock exhibition. With the help of hundreds
of dedicated parents and industry leaders, she helped
establish Texas as the preeminent livestock exhibition
state.
She created The Showbox magazine, the oldest
junior livestock publication in existence and the only
one under the total direction of a woman. Her belief
that anything is possible through dedication and focus
has inspired and given direction to thousands of young
livestock exhibitors, many of whom have assumed leadership
roles in all types of industries. |
